On Foley

w/r/t the following clip:

I decided not to use any sound to underlay the text. I imagined it with the Sonic Adventure 2 Battle typewriter, but it went on a little too long and was too percussive. Using instead my own keyboard clicks also just felt like it distracted. The page turn sounds at the start worked as in the intro (thanks to Harlow Giles Unger’s biography on Henry Clay for that), but having more rapid percussive sounds in the first minute and then no sound effects anywhere else just did not feel right. I am not convinced I am right about this, hence this little writeup, but I figured it was better to err on the side of too few rapid paced sounds than too many.
